Therefore, brothers, since we have confidence to enter the Most Holy Place by the blood of Jesus, by a new and living way opened for us through the curtain, that is his body, and since we have a great priest over the house of God, let us draw near to God with a sincere heart in full assurance of faith, having our hearts sprinkled to cleanse us from a guilty conscience and having our bodies washed with pure water. Let us hold unswervingly to the hope we profess for he who promised is faithful. And let us consider how we may spur one another on towards love and good deeds.
Hebrews 10.19-24
Do you need spurring on? I guess we all do at times and perhaps some of us more than others. Our verses tell us that this activity again arises out of who Jesus is and what he has done for us.
We are thinking about being motivated by Jesus and if we are believers then, because he has done everything for us in the sense of changing us from being dead in trespasses and sins to being alive in him and joint heirs with him of all the riches of heaven, we need to ask ourselves frequently am I heeding his word?

The Christian walk is a demanding one and under pressure, which many are, a word of encouragement is something very special. How well do you know the pressures your fellow Christians are under? When did you last ask a brother or sister how their Christian walk is going? What has encouraged you in your reading of God’s Word? What did you learn from the preaching on Sunday? What are you doing in your Growth Group?
We are good at the trivia, the weather, football, hobbies, etc. which are all good to talk about but they are trivia compared with eternal realities.
When did you last send a thank you or word of encouragement to the preacher on a Sunday? When did you that for any of the church family who serve in many ways?
To make an apt answer is a joy to a man, and a word in season, how good it is! Proverbs 15.23
Neither is this confined to our Christian brothers and sisters. As a Christian, is this a ministry you can have to non-Christian friends?
How does Christ’s death and resurrection motivate you?
