So then as you received Christ Jesus as Lord, continue to live in him, rooted and built up in him, strengthened in the faith as you were taught and overflowing with thankfulness. Colossians 2.6-7
Our present situation of lockdown and social distancing caused by Covid 19 does not in any way affect our receiving Christ Jesus as Lord when we first put our trust in the saving death of that same Christ Jesus and so it should not affect our daily living for and in him. It is all too easy to let present circumstances ‘get to us’ so that we feel sorry for ourselves and let our focus turn inwards when we should be ‘continuing to live in him’.
How can we do this when to some extent all that we have until recently called normal has been turned on its head? The answer is in these same verses. We need to be well rooted and built up in Christ. We need to ask him to strengthen our faith, the faith we were taught and are taught in our daily reading of his word then the reality of who and what we are will be displayed to the world as we are seen to be overflowing with thankfulness when those around us are anxious and fearful.
Finally we need to help and encourage one another in this walk as we join together whenever we can and share how God is using us in a mission field like no other we have experienced in our lifetime.
