A mystery made known

…….making known to us the mystery of his will, according to his purpose, which he set forth in Christ as a plan for the fulness of time, to unite all things in him, things in heaven and things on earth.

Ephesians 1. 9-10

It would be a very strange relationship within a family if key things were withheld from certain members especially if they were central to their growth and wellbeing. It should therefore come as no surprise to us to read that God has made known the mystery of his will to those chosen from eternity past and adopted into his family especially when that which is revealed is absolutely key to their whole way of being and manner of life.

The revelation of the mystery (that which was hidden but is now made known) is thrilling indeed. No matter what things look like on the surface the time is coming when all things will be united in Christ or as the NIV translates it ‘all things in heaven and on earth’ will be brought together under Christ.

Is this not a wonderful prospect? Is this not a truth to spur us onwards? Are we not encouraged to be whole-hearted in our gospel ministry knowing that the victory is assured?

We will have faced trials and tribulations on the way but the enemy is a defeated enemy although he may appear to win some skirmishes along the way. But we are reminded here that ‘God Wins’ and Christ will reign supreme and we with him as his chosen and adopted children.

So take heart! Stand firm utterly confident that, even if there are many difficulties, victory is secure.
